Special Issue on “The Gender Wage Gap”

Notwithstanding a closure in the educational attainment gap between men and women in most countries, and the increased penetration of women into higher occupations, a gender wage gap persists, despite legislative efforts to promote gender equality. Advances in the literature point to a range of reasons for the gap, including gender stereotyping, occupational segregation, discrimination and harassment at work, the role of parenthood, and gender differences in preferences and non-cognitive skills. We invite submissions to this Special Issue which examine reasons for gender wage gaps around the world and policy responses to them. Review the complete call for papers. Extended abstracts are due by April 3, 2026.
