Carol Zabin appointed to Workforce Investment Board
Carol Zabin was recently appointed to the executive council of the state Workforce Investment Board where she now participates in decisions about statewide workforce policy and investment. She has been named the Chair of the Green Collar Jobs Council, a committee of the WIB tasked with assessing and planning for the workforce needs of the clean/green economy in California.
Carol and her green jobs staff have been working to coordinate the policies and programs of the California Public Utilities Commission and the California Energy Commission with the various training programs administered by State's Labor and Workforce Development Agency. Specifically the team is working closely with the Division of Apprenticeship Standards and the WIB to promote better alignment and coordination between the workforce investments funded by ratepayer and other energy programs and to leverage the state-approved apprenticeship system, which is a tremendous state asset for training the skilled construction trades.
